Acid Reflux

Symptoms of Reflux:

  • Chronic cough or coughing at night
  • Frequent throat clearing
  • Feeling of lump in the throat
  • Recurrent sore throat
  • Hoarseness
  • Trouble swallowing
  • Sour or acid taste in the mouth
  • Burping or wheezing

Causes of Reflux:

  • Being pregnant
  • Lying down or bending over soon after eating
  • Being over weight
  • Having a hiatal hernia
  • Having certain food or drinks (including alcohol, chocolate, and caffeine)
  • Taking certain medications
  • Smoking

During your office visit, your doctor will perform a thorough evaluation and examination. This helps your doctor diagnose your reflux and determine the best options for treating Reflux.  In some cases the doctor uses a Laryngoscopy to get a closer look.

With a few changes, you can manage reflux. Some of these changes are quite simple. Others take more time. But all can help you get relief. Work with your doctor to find the changes that are best for you.
